Coway Reverse Osmosis Technology
In recent years, people have become more concerned about the overall safety of where their water comes from and what their water includes. There are over 160 chemicals tested in our water that have no regulation, much less methods of removing them.
Coway has over 20 years of experience manufacturing water filtration systems and is dedicated to developing the most advanced water filtration technology. The company applies their Reverse Osmosis (R/O) filter, which is the most advanced water filter, to filter out 99.99% of all harmful contaminants. This accomplishment is achieved in part by over $30 million a year that Coway invests on water related Research & Development.
Contaminants Range in Size
Contaminants size range varies greatly. There are over 260 identified contaminants in our water supply, and over 160 of them not regulated. These contaminants range from pathogens, to chemicals, pharmaceuticals and heavy metals.
Filters range in price and quality. Some aim to improve water taste, while others work to remove certain contaminants within their technological range.
The picture on the right depicts the ranges in various sizes of contaminants. Keep in mind the highest quality carbon filter, made of carbon block, can only can filter down to 0.5 microns. That leaves a host of contaminants including arsenic, chromium 6, mercury, cadmium and pharmaceuticals that your body struggles to filter on its own.

Coway's 6 Step Reverse Osmosis System
Coway water filtration devices include a six step process that combines the technology of carbon block, ceramic and reverse osmosis filters to provide you with the most advanced way to purify your water.
Step 1-The Sediment Filter removes pollutants such as micro particles and rust residue.
Step 2-The Pre Carbon Filter removes organic compounds such as chlorine, volatile organic compounds (VOC's) and insecticides with an activated carbon block filter made from coconut materials.
Step 3-The Reverse Osmosis Membrane Filter utilizes a semi-permeable membrane with its minute 0.0001 micron pores. This is one millonth the size of a human hair and is the most advanced way to reduce contaminants such as arsenic, radium 226/228, hexavalent chromium, lead, pesticides, fluoride, and pharmaceuticals by 99.99%.
Step 4-The Fine Post Carbon Filter enhances the taste of the water and using silver activated carbon, prevent the propogation of micro-organisms.
Step 5-The Fine Dust Filter removes fine particles, dusts and other impurities from the water.
Step 6-The Ceramic Filter suppresses the propagation of germs in the water tank and improves the overall sanitation and quality of the water.
What is Reverse Osmosis?
Reverse Osmosis is a technical breakthrough initially developed by the U.S. Government to provide fresh drinking water for the Navy. The R/O process uses waterline pressure to push raw tap water against a special semi-permeable membrane. In this sophisticated molecular squeezing process, water molecules tend to seperate from the contaminants in your tap water. The water molecules then pass through to the inside of the membrane and onto the reservoir-ready for our fresh daily use. The rejected particles and contaminants are washed from the membrane down the drain.
